Trading the Blazer for Boldness: Personal Branding Photography for Therapists—Inside Honest Hour Photoshoot

If you think personal branding photography for therapists is about stiff headshots and beige backgrounds, take a seat: I’m about to show you why Jasmine Ramirez, founder of Honest Hour, flipped that script—big time.

We set out not just to make her look good (she already owns that), but to capture what therapy really looks like: connection, transformation, and a whole lot of realness. Welcome to a shoot that breaks the rules, just like Jasmine does for her clients every day.

Why Personal Branding Photography for Therapists is Redefining “Professional”

Want to know a secret? The old rules of “look polished, act polished” never worked for most of us. Jasmine and I dove deep in her Design & Planning Session, discussing what actually matters in a therapy brand photoshoot. Spoiler: it’s not blazers and forced smiles.

Instead, we mapped out her real story as a therapist and business owner. Authentic therapist portraits should reflect your journey and your energy—not who you think you should be. For Jasmine, this meant celebrating her signature curls, favorite journals, and a glorious vintage fur coat (don’t worry, you’ll get the metaphor below!).

We planned for three kinds of images:

  • Brand-defining portraits for her website and speaking gigs
  • Story-rich moments that show her in action, notebook in hand or mid-conversation
  • Symbolic shots—like the “shedding the burden (fur coat)” pose, representing what clients leave behind in therapy, or sheer avoidance.

Wardrobe? Think capsule neutrals and 90s jeans—because that’s how she shows up for her clients. Why fake it?

Sometimes, our instinct is to look away, tune out, or stay silent when we’re hurting—the three-monkey pose was inspired by the ways we avoid our own struggles. This image is a reminder that real growth begins the moment we choose to see, listen, and speak our truth—even when it’s uncomfortable.

The Reveal: A Therapy Brand Photoshoot With Real Soul

This wasn’t a session where you pick one “good” photo and call it a day. Jasmine and I spent her reveal going through each image, outtakes and all. We looked for the shots where her directness shined, empathy radiated, or that beautiful “messy bun and all” vibe told clients, “This is what authenticity looks like.”

We found:

  • Images that say approachable and confident, not buttoned-up and distant.
  • Authentic therapist portraits—some with that signature sassy face, some with the warmth you’d hope to find in your own practitioner.
  • Joyful laughter, thoughtful poses, and of course, the transformation moment of physically taking off the fur coat—goodbye to everyone’s expectations but your own.

That’s what a real therapy brand photoshoot is about. Telling your story, your way.

From Photos to Impact—And an Invitation

For Jasmine, these images are more than website decoration. They’re signals. They say: “You can show up as yourself, and so can I. If that’s your vibe, welcome.” It’s a message every therapist (and business owner) needs to hear—especially the women who wonder if they need a blazer to be taken seriously (you don’t).

If you’re ready to bust out of the “rules” and try personal branding photography for therapists, let’s do it your way. I’ll bring the camera—and maybe a metaphorical fur coat or two.

Let’s create portraits that change how you see your practice—so your clients can see the real you, too. Contact us.
